The Benefits of Reciting Guru Rinpoche Vajra Mantra

If what you wish for does not happen as I have promised, I, Padma, have deceived sentient beings—absurd! I have not deceived you—it will happen just as I’ve promised.- By Guru Rinpoche, Padmasambhava.
Yeshe Tsogyal, made a great outer, inner and secret mandala offering and humbly asked:

“O, Master Lotus Born, the work you have done for the welfare of all sentient beings here in Tibet, in this and in future lives, is vast. No one of such extreme kindness has ever come before, nor shall any come again. The practices you have given us are like essential nectar; though I am a lowly woman, of this I have no doubt. However, sentient beings in the future will have profuse thoughts and tremendous aggression; they will have wrong views towards the Holy Dharma, and in particular they will blaspheme the supreme teachings of the Secret Mantra. At that time, plague, famine and war will be widespread amongst sentient beings, and in particular, China, Tibet and Mongolia will be destroyed like ants’ nests, and a time of terrible suffering will befall the Tibetans.
“You have spoken of many ways to remedy these afflictions, but beings in the future will have no time to practice. Those who do have a slight inclination towards practice will be beset by powerful obstacles. Beings will not get along with one other; supplies and materials will be insufficient. Such terrible times as these will be extremely difficult to avert. In such times, Guru, what are the benefits of relying solely upon the practice of the Vajra Guru mantra? For the benefit of people of weak intellect in the future, I humbly entreat you to tell us.”
Guru Rinpoche spoke thus: -
In such future times, that practice will definitely be of short and long term benefit for sentient beings. Although I have concealed many earth treasures, water treasures, rock treasures, sky treasures and so on which contain unfathomable pith instructions and methods of practice, in the degenerate times it will be terribly difficult for fortunate beings to find the conditions and circumstances to meet with the teachings; this is a sign that beings’ merit is running out.
“However, in such times as those, this essential Vajra Guru mantra—if recited with vast bodhicitta aspiration in great sacred places, in monasteries, on the peaks of high mountains and the shores of vast rivers, in places inhabited by gods, demons and evil spirits, at the heads of valleys, geophysical junctions and so on—by ngakpas with unbroken samaya, vow-holding monastics, faithful men, women of fine qualities, and the like, however many times:—
One hundred, one thousand, ten thousand, one hundred thousand, ten million, one hundred million, etc.—will bring inconceivable benefits and powers. Countries everywhere will be protected from all plague, famine, warfare, armed violence, poor harvests, bad omens and evil spells. Rain will fall on time, harvests and livestock will be excellent, and lands will prosper. In this life, future lives, and on the pathways of the bardo, fortunate practitioners will meet me again and again.
“Even one hundred recitations per day without interruption will make you attractive to others, and food, wealth and enjoyments will appear effortlessly. If you recite the mantra one thousand, ten thousand, or more times per day, you will bring others under your influence with your brilliance, and blessings and powers will be continuously and unobstructedly obtained. 
If you perform one hundred thousand, ten million or more recitations, the three worlds will come under your power, the three levels of existence will fall under your glorious sway, gods and spirits will be at your bidding, the four modes of enlightened activity will be accomplished without hindrance, and you will be able to bring immeasurable benefit to all sentient beings in whatever ways are needed. 
If you can do thirty million, seventy million or more recitations, you will never be separate from the Buddhas of the three times nor ever apart from me; thus, the eight classes of gods and spirits will obey your orders, praise your words, and accomplish whatever tasks you entrust to them.
“At best, practitioners will attain the rainbow body; failing that, at the time of death, mother and child luminosities will meet; and at the very least, they will see me in the bardo and all their perceptions having been liberated into their essential nature, they will be reborn in Ngayab Ling and accomplish immeasurable benefit for sentient beings.”

The Phenomena of The Tibetan Nechong Oracle (1/2)

The word oracle is an ancient Greek word that can be found in the Oxford dictionaries, and the simple definition means "a priest or priestess acting as a medium through whom advice or prophecy was sought from the gods in classical antiquity."

In the Tibetan tradition, the word oracle is used for a spirit that enters those men and women who act as mediums between the natural and spiritual realms. The mediums are, therefore, known as kuten, which literally means "the physical basis."
 
According to Tibetan tradition, Guru Rinpoche said Padmasambhava was born on a lotus in a Dhanakosha Lake on the tenth day of the monkey (fifth) month in the Year of the Monkey.  

When Guru Rinpoche, Padmasambhava, consecrated Samye Monastery with the Vajrakilaya dance, he tamed the local spirit protector, Pehar Gyalp, and bound him by oath to become the head of the entire hierarchy of Buddhist protective spirits. Pehar, later known as Dorje Drakden, became the principal protector of His Holiness The Dalai Lama, manifesting through the Nechung Oracle.

After years of guerrilla war between Tibetan rebels and Chinese soldiers in a land that China considered to be its territory, thousands of protesters surrounded the Dalai Lama’s palace in Lhasa to keep His Holiness from being abducted, arrested, or assassinated. 

Over the following days, the State of the Oracle, the Dalai Lama’s advisor, urged him to flee. The Tibetan government-in-exile reports, variously, 87,000 deaths for Tibetans, and this included the monks and nuns during the rebellion.

According to the Dalai Lama, "Tibetans rely on oracles for various reasons. The purpose of the oracles is not just to foretell the future. They are called upon as protectors and sometimes used as healers. However, their primary function is to protect the Buddha Dharma and its practitioners. 

Who is the Tibetan Oracle?
The Nechung Oracle, a medium for both prophecies and warnings, has been the protector of Tibet since the eighth century. Today, the Oracles are living in Dharamsala who speaks perfect English. The Nechung Oracle, Thubten Ngodrup, poses with a small companion.

Who is the current Nechung Oracle?
The current Nechung Kuten (medium of the chief state oracle), Ven. Thupten Ngodup, was born on July 13, 1958, in Phari, Tibet. He is a descendant of the famous Tibetan Tantric Master Nga-dak Nyang-relwa (1136–1204).

Ngodup was born in Tibet in 1958 and fled to Dharamsala in 1966 after the Chinese took control of his home country. He entered the Nechung Monastery, established in exile there, at the age of 12. The monastery, originally located near the capital of Lhasa in Tibet, has been closely tied to the succession of Dalai Lamas for centuries, as well as to the oracle.
According to the Nechung Foundation website, the monastery has been known as the seat of the State Oracle of Tibet since the 17th century, when the fifth Dalai Lama pronounced the oracle "the chief protector of the Tibetan Government, responsible for peace and harmony on earth."
While at the monastery, Ngodup served as chief ritual assistant to the Nechung oracle and was recognised as his successor when that oracle died.
Who is the female oracle of Tibet?
Her title is Rangjung Neljorma self-arisen dakini. She is also the state oracle of Tsering Chenga, the goddess protector of Tibet. The female Khadro-la, Khadro-la is the State Medium of the Tenma Oracle (The Tenma Goddesses are the Twelve Guardian Deities of Tibetan Buddhism).

What does Khandro mean in Tibetan?
The Tibetan term 'Khandro' literally means 'sky-goer', indicating one who traverses the 'sky' of the expanse of wisdom. The masculine form of the word is Daka, which is usually translated into Tibetan as pawo "hero"
Tibet takes a special position in the world in certain respects: even nowadays the Tibetan Government employs an oracle and it regularly consults him on governmental, political issues as well as on personal matters concerning the Dalai Lama. 
The phenomenon of oracles remains an important part of the Tibetan way of life. Tibetans rely on oracles for various reasons. The purpose of the oracles is not just to foretell the future. They are called upon as wisdom protectors and sometimes used as healers. However, their primary function is to protect the Buddha Dharma and its practitioners.

Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva

《法華經》說:“若有無量百千萬億眾生,受諸苦惱,聞是觀世音菩薩,一心稱名,觀世音菩薩即時觀其音聲,皆得解脫.
According to the Mahayana Buddhism, today July 22, it's the Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva's enlightenment day.  Avalokitesvara is a Bodhisattva who embodies the compassion of all Buddhas. Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva is variably depicted and described and is portrayed in different cultures as either female or male. 

In Mahayana Buddhism, Avalokiteśvara has become the somewhat different female form and famously known as the Guan Yin Bodhisattva or The Goddess of Mercy 南摩觀世音菩薩 or 南摩觀自在菩薩. 
In Tibet, Avalokitesvara played as an important  role in Tibetan Buddhism, and is regarded in the Vajrayana teachings as a Buddha. He is called Chenrezig. His eleven heads, which can be interpreted as corresponding to the eleven points of a mandala (its center, four cardinal points, four intermediate points, nadir, and zenith), are arranged in five registers. 

The lowest, displaying peaceful countenances, is surmounted by three levels of wrathful forms; the peaceful Buddha Amitabha is at the top. Each head represents an aspect of the compassionate deity, even the wrathful forms, which reflect Avalokiteshvara's ability to meet ferocious powers with comparable strength, although his heart remains full of compassion. 
His arms, intended to represent the auspicious number one thousand, stretch around him like a wide halo, each bearing an eye to symbolize his unhindered capacity to see. The outstretched hands poignantly suggest an immediate association between the deity's perception of his devotees' needs and his willingness to extend himself to relieve their suffering.

Accordingly, to the Vajrayana Buddhism, The Goddess of Tara came into existence from a single tear shed by Avalokiteśvara. When the tear fell to the ground, it created a lake, and a lotus opening in the lake revealed Tara.

Namo Buddha Ya

Buddhism and philosophy encompassing a variety of traditions, beliefs and practices, largely based on the teachings attributed to Siddhartha Gautama, known as the Buddha. The Buddha lived and taught in the Indian. He is recognized by adherents as an awakened teacher who shared his insights to help sentient beings end suffering (or dukkha), achieve nirvana, and escape what is seen as a cycle of suffering and rebirth.

Buddhism and the Dharma that encompasses a variety of traditions, beliefs and spiritual practices largely based on the teachings attributed to the Buddha. Buddhism originated in India, from where it spread through much of Asia, The three major branches of Buddhism are : Theravada , Mahayana and Vajrayana. 
Buddhist schools vary on the exact nature of the path to liberation, the importance and canonicity of various teachings and scriptures, and especially their respective practices. Practices of Buddhism include Refuge, Samatha, Vipassana, Bodhicitta and etc. 
Three major branches of Buddhism feature with different countless skilful and variety of methods which, if they are practised in the proper way, can make the process of accumulation and purification incredibly swift and direct.
In general, Buddhism is a way of finding peace within oneself. It is a religion that helps us to find the happiness and contentment we seek. Buddhists develop inner peace, kindness and wisdom through their daily practice; and then share their experience with others bringing real benefit to this world. They try not to harm others and to live peacefully and gently, working towards the ultimate goal of pure and lasting happiness for all living beings.

Happy 81st Birthday, Your Holiness The 14th Dalai Lama

His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama was born in July 06, 1935 and His religious name is Tenzin Gyatso. His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama is important monks of the Gelug school, the newest school of Tibetan Buddhism. The 14th Dalai Lama was born in Taktser village and He was the reincarnation of the 13th Dalai Lama. In 1937 at the aged of two His Holiness was formally recognized as the 14th Dalai Lama.
In November 1950, at the age of 15, His Holiness lost in Homeland after China's invasion of Tibet.  During the 1959, His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama escaped and fled to India. The 14th Dalai Lama received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1989. He has traveled the world and has spoken about the welfare of Tibetans, environment, economics, women's rights, non-violence, interfaith dialogue, physics, astronomy, Buddhism and science, cognitive neuroscience, reproductive health, and sexuality, along with various Mahayana and Vajrayana topics. 

When we see His Holiness the Dalai Lama, what we are actually seeing is the holy body of the Compassion Buddha in human form. His Holiness the Dalai Lama is the actual living Compassion Buddha, so besides hearing his holy speech, even just seeing his holy body is great purification—it makes preparation in our mind for us to be liberated from the oceans of samsaric suffering and plants the seed of enlightenment. 
By seeing His Holiness, especially by hearing his holy speech, and by seeing all his qualities, the hearts of many millions in the world have been filled with hope and joy and peace.

Guru Rinpoche Great Manifestation of Wealth Deity - Lama Orgyen Khandro Norlha

In order to benefit sentient beings, Guru Rinpoche manifested into different forms to liberate them from Samaras. One of the manifestations is Lama Orgyen Norlha, the Guru of all Dzambhalas. 

Guru Rinpoche, manifested into a single form which is the present practice of generosity as indicated by the mongoose on the left hand of spitting out the jewels, in his right hand the supreme wish-granting jewels and under his left arm a victory banner held spending aloft.

Guru Rinpoche emanates as Lama Orgyen Khandro Norlha who appears as a wealth deity, surrounded by the assembly of wealth gods and goddess. According to the Sadhanas, for the practice of offering the "Serak" who will be dispatched away with all their evil thoughts and negative motivation of harm, along with the effigies.

Those who had received the initiation to recite His mantra will have a strong blessings in the form of good fortune, luck, and longevity, enriching prosperity in Dharma and material wealth and good health.
Guru Dzambhala or Lama Orgyen Khandro Norlha blessings increase the energy of prosperity. It removes the sufferings of poverty. It relieves one's mind and allows practitioners to practice Dharma without worries. 
The Lama Orgyen Khandro Norlha practice is especially effective for capturing, restoring and increasing the energy of 'yang' or wealth. Wealth in this sense not only refers to monetary wealth, but to anything that has value in our lives—the richness of vibrant health, nutritious food, clean environments; the prosperity that comes from the creative forces of the universe, the richness of friendship and community, the wealth that comes from inner peace and happiness, as well as material prosperity. 

As the world is now may lead into an economic crisis and hardship, the need to strengthen yang and restore lost yang is greater than ever. In this practice, the principal deity is Lama Khandro Orgyen Norlha, aka Orgyen Khandro Norlha, or Guru Dzambhala, who is Guru Rinpoche manifesting as the divine god of wealth surrounded by the assembly of wealth gods and goddesses. Guru Dzambhala, the Guru of all Dzambhala, is the embodiment of the perfect generosity of all Buddhas and bodhisattvas in the past, present and future.
The Origin of Guru Dzambhala or Lama Orgyen KhandroNorlha
During one winter time, when Guru Rinpoche travelled and visited Tibet, the entire people were suffering from poverty. Thrisong Detsen, the King of Tibet, out of compassion requested Guru Rinpoche to do something that could help his people. 
Guru Rinpoche miraculously, manifested himself into Lama Orgyen Khandro Norlha and did Ugyen Norlha’s Puja and blessed the whole land. Thereafter the region has never experienced poverty life; People enjoyed and had better living. Before Guru Rinpoche left Tibet, he had hidden the Lama Orgyen Khandro Norlha Yabyum the union one and Lama Orgyen Khandro Norlha's practice text (scripts) in a secret place directing Dakinis and Protector to safeguard it, until Terton (Treasure Revealer)

The First Manifestations of Guru Rinpoche - Guru Pema Gyalpo

Guru Rinpoche is said to have taken eight forms or manifestations representing different aspects of his being, such as wrath or pacification for example. The eight principal forms were assumed by Guru Rinpoche at different points in his life. The Eight Manifestations of Padmasambhava belong to the tradition of the Revealed Treasures.

The Eight Manifestations of Padmasambhava do not depict different Padmasambhavas, but reflect his ability to appear according to different needs and demands. In fact, they are called in Tibetan "Guru Tsen Gye".

The eight ‘names’ of the Guru; each manifestation demonstrates a different principle that unveils the innermost nature of mind. As Guru Rinpoche said: “Mind itself is Padmasambhava; there is no practice or meditation apart from that.” Guru Orgyen Dorje Chang ,The vajra-holder,shown dark blue in color in the attire of the Sambhogakaya. Depicted in union with consort.
The first great manifestation - Guru Pema Gyalpo
The first emanation is called Guru Padma Gyalpo. Gyalpo means king. Guru Padma Gyalpo is the form in which Guru Padmasambhava originally appeared in our world.

In this form, Guru Rinpoche is depicted as a young prince with his left leg folded in his lap and his right leg extended and set on a lotus, ready to act; with his right hand he plays the damaru and with his left hand, he displays a mirror. 
This is the precious statue of Pema Gyalpo, one of the great manifestation of Guru Rinpoche. The statue is a terma tresure revealed by the 15th Karmapa. In this picture, The precious statue of Pema Gyalpo is currently kept by His Holiness the 17th Karmapa Ogyen Trinley Dorje.

The Living Journal - I Sleep On Their Threshold

“For every one, man or woman, who has faith in me, I, the lotus born, have never departed. I sleep on their threshold”

“I am present in front of anyone who has faith in me, just as the moon casts it reflection, effortlessly, in any vessel filled with water.”
The wisdom words of Guru Rinpoche, Padmasambhava. 
Guru Rinpoche, the lotus born in this world of Samsara and degeneration and you had made vast aspirations. You are the descendants of the great compassionate of Amithabha Buddha and Avalokestesvara Bodhisattva from the pure land of Dewachen.

You are praised like the immaculate white lotus, for whoever hears and calls your name can never fall back into the Samsara world. The most compassionate precious Guru, supreme teacher, Bhagavan, Tathgata complete and perfect Buddha, the glorious conqueror, Guru Rinpoche. In you I take refuge and homage to you.  
After many years in Tibet, in the Wood Monkey year (864), Guru Rinpoche prepared to leave and he knew that the cannibal demons, inhabiting the south-western continent of Chamara—Ngayab, were set to invade and destroy India, Nepal and Tibet, and if not subjugated and subdued, the cannibal demons that inhabiting in the south-western continent of Chamara—Ngayab would sweep the earth and destroy all human life.

Guru Rinpoche gave final teachings and instructions to each of the disciples, and then, on the tenth day of the monkey month, Guru Rinpoche, Padmasambhava mounted a beam of sunlight and in the flicker of a moment soared away into the open sky.

From the direction of the south west, he turned his face to look back, and sent forth a light ray of immeasurable loving kindness that established the disciples in the state of non-return. Accompanied by a cloud-like throng of dakinis, outer and inner, and amid the sound of the music they were offering, he went to the south-western continent of Ngayab.  
Guru Rinpoche has pledged to return and help those who ask for his help on this particular day. Guru Rinpoche is generally said to respond to people’s prayers anytime but he is believed to have made a special commitment to return to the world every tenth day of the Tibetan lunar month, riding on the rays of the rising sun in order to help the sentient beings.

The Living Journal – Taking refuge, the gateway to our liberation.

Taking refuge in the Three Jewels [The triple gems]
The Three Refuge is to remind ourselves to endorse a right living and social responsibility. It is our aim to become living embodiment of the Three Jewels.

The first Jewel, Buddha - One who is fully awake and wise, so we learn to direct ourselves to awakening, keeping a mindful attitude, being compassionate in our everyday life.

The second Jewel, Dharma - Is universal truth, teaching and discipline, we learn to direct ourselves toward what is true and right, and shape our life accordingly.

The third Jewel, Sangha - Is the community of followers and non-followers. We learn to live in peace and harmony with all beings and dedicate ourselves to extending our loving kindness to all.
Buddhist five Precepts
All Buddhists live by the Five Precepts which are as follows:-
  1. Refraining from killing and harming living beings.
  2. Refraining from stealing.
  3. Refraining from sexual misconduct.
  4. Refraining from lying.
  5. Refraining from intoxicating.
Prayer of taking refuge in Tibetan language
Sangye choe dang tsok kyi chok nam la

Jang chup bar du dak ni kyap su chi
Dak gi jin sok gyi pay sonam kyi
Dro la phen chir sangye drup par shok

Until becoming enlightened, I take refuge
In the Buddha, the Dharma and the supreme assembly

May the merit by practicing generosity and the other perfections

May I attain Buddhahood for the benefit of all sentient beings.


The Tibetan also sometimes uses this Sanskrit language of taking refuge :-
Namo Buddhaya 
Namo Dharmaya 

Namo Sanghaya
I take refuge to the Buddha 

I take refuge to the Dharma 
I take refuge to the Sangha
The benefits of taking refuge

Taking Refuge in itself is a very important commitment and is the foundation of all practices. By taking refuge we are planting the seed of liberation within ourselves. We distance ourselves from the negative actions we have accumulated and develop more positive actions.(Unless otherwise that we don't practice and we don't live by the Five Precepts,and our negative actions can not be changed). 

It is not something you should do in an informal way. In order to carry out a trust connected with anything in your life; you need some commitment. For that reason if you desire to take Buddhism as your path to an enlightenment journey and support your life on Buddha’s doctrine, then certainly you have to make a form of commitment.
The commitment is resembling a declaration to study, to learn an understanding of how lives are seen through the principles of Buddhism. The commitments are not meant to isolate ourselves absent from the society. Taking refuge is the opposite and it is about learning how we can lead a more functional and constructive life and how we can make possible to create a more positive society

We enter the path for both our own self progress and, at the same time, to learn how to assist others. Buddhists can make a world of difference and contribute to the creation of a global society that would preserve the environmental integrity of our universe.
The taking refuge and the Five Precepts had provided us a spiritual focus on ethics and morality. One must do best to maintain and uphold the Buddhist Five Precepts. Peace, love and happiness form the basis for the true meaning of human life. For that reason, in order to make our lives meaningful and enriching we must discover peace, love and happiness in our everyday lives. The purpose of human life is to realize that all beings are an interconnected and interrelated whole, and to enter the non-dual gate to our liberation.
