蓮師說:當修持佛法時,有七種型態的腐敗。

蓮師說:當修持佛法時,有七種型態的腐敗。
Guru Rinpoche said: When practicing the Dharma, there are seven types of depravities/corruption.

佛母問:是哪些?
Bodhisattva ask: What  are they ?

上師說:
Guru Rinpoche said:

1)當你的信心低微但聰明才智高的話,會因自認是上師而腐敗。
When you have low confidence but high intelligence, you will become corrupt because you think you are a guru.

2)當你有許多聽眾而自視甚高時,會因自認是善知識而腐敗。
When you have a lot of audiences and high self-esteem, you are corrupted by what you consider to be knowledgeable.

3)當你設想具有不共的功德卻沒把佛法放在心裡時,會因自認自己是領導者而腐敗。
When you imagine that you have uncommon merits, but don't take the Dharma in your heart, you will become corrupt because you consider yourself a leader.

4)當你給予口訣卻自己不實修時,會因成為麻木的「佛學專家」而腐敗
When you receive an oral transmission, but don’t practice it yourself, you will become corrupt by becoming an insensitive "Expert in Buddhism"

5) 當你喜歡無聊的碎嘴而內心欠缺佛法時,會因成為攀緣的江湖術士而腐敗。
When you are bored, but with a long-winded and lack the Dharma in your heart, you will become corrupt because you become a warlock.

6) 當你懂得一些皮毛卻欠缺口訣時,會因成為一個或許信心強大的凡夫而腐敗。
When you know a little, but owe a little trick, you will become corrupt by becoming an ordinary person who may have overconfidence.

A true practitioner, if his words and deeds conform to the Dhama, you should be able to liberate yourself with intelligence, tune your heart with faith, Listen to the Dharma teachings to cut off myths, and to cast aside worldly considerations, immerse the heart in the Dharma, complete one wisdom with practice of listening and contemplation, practise on transmission and to set one's mind at rest , and use the cultivation to get an ultimate concentration, However, that is difficult.

The Seven Branches Prayers

His Holiness the 17th Gyalwang Karmapa, Ogyen Drodul Trinley Dorje stated: “The key points of the Seven Branches Payer is to gather the accumulations and purify the obscurations.

There is no practice that is not included within these two. Gathering the accumulations means gathering all the favourable conditions for developing the path within our beings. Purifying misdeeds and obscurations means clearing away the conditions that counteract developing the path within.”

Seven Branches or Seven Limb Prayer serves as the basic structure of many Buddhist prayers, sadhanas and pujas.  It consists of following seven branches:
1. Prostrations - antidote to pride and ego-clinging; the result of the practice is that one will never be separated from the Three Jewels and will be held with kindness, love and compassion of Lamas until Awakening.
2. Offerings - antidote for desire and attachment; cultivating generosity and offerings (material and visualized) result in liberation of attachments and habits of attachments and it accumulates merit.
3. Confession - antidote for negativities accumulated since time without beginning; results of such practice brings experiences of better forms of rebirth, for instance, a body which is an appropriate vessel for the practice of Dharma.
4. Rejoicing - antidote for habitual patterns of envy and jealousy; it brings about support and inspiration of good Dharma friends and conditions favorable for practice of Dharma.
5. Requesting the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas to teach Dharma - antidote for ignorance; by the power of this aspiration one can develop the wisdom to understand the profound meaning of the Teachings.
6. Requesting the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas not to pass away - antidote to wrong views; this request purifies disturbing emotions arising from our wrong perceptions and gives rise to the proper view.
7. Dedication - antidote to unskillful or stupid acts; proper dedication is characterized by two facts: one dedicates whatever merit for nothing less than Enlightenment and aspires to it in order to benefit all sentient beings; it results in the development of skillful means of Bodhisattvas and attaining complete Awakening.

Inauspicious days for raising new Tibetan prayer flags

Inauspicious days for raising new Tibetan prayer flags
Inauspicious Days (Baden) for the Earth-Pig Year 2146 (2019 ) according to the Du-Khor Be-kar - Astrology of the Kalachakra.

According to the Tibetan Calendar there are certain days when a "Baden entity" is present. Those days are inauspicious for raising new Tibetan prayer flags. A Baden Senpo is a demon of the naga class of elemental spirits. Raising flags when that energy is active can actually have a negative effect.

The following dates as stated below are days that are considered inauspicious to raise  Tibetan prayer flags:
Earth-Pig Year 2146 (2019)
  • February : 12, 23, 26
  • March: 13, 24, 27
  • April: 9, 20
  • May: 2, 8, 19
  • June: 1, 4, 6, 17
  • July: 11, 24
  • August: 7, 19
  • September: 3, 15, 29
  • October: 11, 23
  • November: 6, 19
  • December: 3, 15, 30
  • January (2020): 11, 22, 25
  • February: 7, 18

Please note that the dates are just days that are not good for initially planting the flags. Some people have written to ask if they need to take down prayer flags on these days. Certainly not; once they are up, it's okay to keep them up until they disintegrate or until they are replaced with new flags.

As far as what days are best for raising new prayer flags: that really depends on a person's individual astrology. Without consulting an astrologer, I would say the best time to put up new flags are in the mornings on sunny, windy days.

Mondays are considered especially good. Offering prayers can be done before raising the flags.

*Note
Recite this prayer when you wake up, and you will accomplish all your aims for the day. Recite it when you go to sleep, and you will have good dreams. Recite it before a conflict, and you will be completely victorious.

Recite it when you embark on any project, and you will be successful. If you recite this prayer every day, the length of your life, your splendour, renown, and wealth will all increase, you will find perfect happiness, you will accomplish your aims exactly as you wish, all harmful actions and obscurations will be purified and all your wishes for higher realms, liberation and omniscience will be fulfilled.” These are the words of the Buddha himself.

This prayer arose from the lake of Jampal Gyepe Dorje’s mind on the third day of the third month of the Fire Monkey year (1896), an auspicious time according to the configuration of planets, sun and constellations.

Vajrayana features countless skillful and powerful methods which, if they are practiced in the proper way, can make the process of accumulation and purification incredibly swift and direct. It is absolutely necessary to have the pure motivation and to know that Vajrayana practice is not carried out to increase one’s own ego, power and self-interests.

New Year Aspirations - Confession

Medicine Buddha’s Confession Prayers
DIK TUNG KUN SHAK GE WA JANG CHUB NGO
NE DON DUK NGELDREL WAY TRASHI SHOK
JIK TEN PA NAM RANG NE BENZA MU
YE SHE DAM TSHIK LHA NAM DAK LA THIM
KA DAKKUN ZANG LONG DU. E MA HO.

English translation - Medicine Buddha’s Confession Prayers
I confess all wrong and downfalls and dedicate all virtue to awakening.
May there be the most auspicious of freedom from sickness, harmful spirits and suffering.
The worldly ones return to their own places, BENZA MU.
The Jnana and Samaya Sattvas dissolve into me.
I dissolve into the expanse of all goodness, primordial purity. E MA HO.
Purifying negativity is a basic theme of Buddhist philosophy and practice. According to the teachings of Shakyamuni, the historical Buddha of our era, each being has a mind, the basic nature of which is purity, goodness, compassion and wisdom. This basic nature, often called “Buddha Nature,” is the basis for the experience of perfect compassion and wisdom called enlightenment.

But while all beings possess this “seed of awakening, it is often obscured by negativity such as; conflicting, emotions, habitual tendencies, and the belief in a solid, permanent and
unchanging “self ” and environment.
These obscurations lead us to commit negative actions, which (according to the Buddha’s teachings on karma) bear fruit as the suffering of cyclic existence (called “Samsara.”). To uncover our basic nature and to stop accumulating negative karma, the Buddha taught that we should:

1. Do away with negative actions;
2. Practice virtuous actions; and
3. Tame the mind (through meditation).

On a daily basis, Buddhists strive to become more aware of their thoughts and actions and to see how those thoughts and actions shape their experience and their world. They also strive to stop performing negative actions and to purify negative actions they have already done, while at the same time strengthening positive actions, and expanding the positive actions they already are performing.

By doing this, they eliminate negative karma (and its attendant suffering) and increase positive karma (and its attendant happiness). They also remove obscurations, allowing the Buddha nature to become more manifest.
The Practice of Confession
One of the most powerful means of purifying past negative actions and eliminating future negative actions is the practice of Confession. Shakyamuni gave teachings to his followers on the power of confession, and confession was a regular feature of the daily prayer life of his followers.

We can practice confession ourselves on a daily basis. Daily confession helps us confront our faults, become more aware of how our actions affect others, and short-circuit our habitual tendencies. As we do this, negative habits, lose their grip on us, our obscurations
slowly lift, and we become more “in touch” with our Buddha Nature and our potential for spiritual awakening.
We make confession by reciting a confession liturgy, such as reciting the sacred Sadhanas, Sutras and Mantras.  A Special Means of Purification is to recite the Vajrasattva Mantra. In addition, the Vajrayana teachings of the Buddha contain a special means for purifying negativity is the 100-syllable Mantra of Vajrasattva.

The Mantra is composed of seed syllables that are the embodiment of 100 “families”—all of the deities of the Vajrayana. Vajrasattva (Dorje Sempa in Tibetan) has vowed that his mantra would have the power to purify even the most terrible misdeeds, it is among the most powerful means we have for purifying negative karma and obscurations.

The Tibetan word for mantra is “ngak,” implies power, meaning that the words themselves are powerful. But our attitude and intention in saying them is crucial, as well. Any mantra can bring about purification, if you think it will. But Vajrasattva’s mantra is especially powerful and prominent.
The 100-Syllable Mantra of Vajrasattva
OM VAJRASATTVA SAMAYA,
MANUPALAYA VAJRASATTVA,
TENOPA TISHTHA DRIDHO ME BHAWA,
SUTOKHAYO ME BHAWA, SUPOKHAYO ME BHAWA,
ANURAKTO ME BHAWA, SARWA SIDDHI ME PRAYACCHA,
SARWA KARMA SU TSA ME, TSITTAM SHREYANG KURU, HUNG,
HA HA HA HA HO, BHAGAWAN SARWA TATHAGATA,
VAJRA MA ME MUNCA, VAJRI BHAWA, MAHA SAMAYASATTVA, HA.

New Year Aspirations - Aptitude

Yes, I am changing. * I am doing what makes me happy. After all, I am responsible for my happiness. And I owe it to me.*

Days slip into weeks, weeks turn into months and transform into years. Calendars are changing and so am I and you as well.

Today is January 04, 2018. I am sharing a message from one my Lama teacher to you as a courtesy reminder for everybody including myself. Life is valuable and it accelerates towards its end always.

None of us knows when the most recent day of our expedition in this magnificent world will be. Vulnerability is dependably with us each minute, yet we go about as though we will live eternally.

In the event that we mull over profoundly about our lives, we may comprehend that our existence is fragile and destructible. It is momentary and impermanent, and this is the main right set of circumstances for us to be grateful and appreciative.

Changing ourselves into better people as we live. As for an individual, we conceived with imperfection. The capacity to take a shot at our defects and enhance ourselves is an interesting and unique nature of the human life.

Nonetheless, a large number of us turn out to be excessively focused when we uncover our flaws when dealing with an undesirable circumstance. We shed tears  and discouraged.
We overlook that the way toward gaining from fault and idealizing ourselves is the texture of existence. In this way, remind ourselves to cultivate the teaching of the Buddha without much theatrical work. Regardless of whether we will have a charming New Year or not relies upon how we think and how we manage our lives.

With respect to myself, I am not anticipating  a smooth year, but rather I seek to have better aptitudes to withstand the effects of a hostile situation and carry on with my life completely notwithstanding when I am stuck with adversities.

Being cared for ourselves is the way to joy. At that point cautiously it will extend onto others as well. So my aspire for each of you is to respect yourself and others. You are all-important to many individuals on every side of you.

Finding Inner Strength

在藏語中有一句諺語: "悲劇應該被用來作為力量的源泉。不管有什麼困難, 經歷多麼痛苦, 如果我們失去了希望, 那就是我們真正的災難。
第十四達賴喇嘛

There is a saying in Tibetan, “Tragedy should be utilized as a source of strength.” No matter what sort of difficulties, how painful experience is, if we lose our hope, that’s our real disaster - His Holiness The 14th Dalai Lama.

On March 17, 1959, It was one of the most oppressive and strenuous moments of his life. His Holiness The 14th Dalai Lama was given casual civilian clothes to replace his usual maroon robes. The spiritual leader of the Tibetan people was spirited away from Lhasa. Two weeks later he crossed into India.

Over more than 80,000 of his compatriots followed. They traveled by night and slept in the snowy mountain passes during the day. Hundreds fell down from hunger and exhaustion. Those who survived found themselves in an unfamiliar terrain, surrounded by strange people with outlandish customs and practices.
Exactly 58 years after this initial exodus, over 150,000 Tibetans are still scattered across these alien landscapes, unable to return to their occupied homeland. If it hasn’t happened to you, you can never completely understand. Once you have lost your homeland you develop a completely different mindset, a strange mentality of loss and longing. An estimation of 2,000 make the crossing each year, over the Himalayas, into Nepal. Most stay briefly at a UN reception center before moving on to India. Of the Tibetans living away from their homeland, it is estimated about more than 200,000 live in India, 50,000 in Nepal, 30,000 in the US and Canada, thousands in Bhutan and in Europe.
