Should
you celebrate the Chinese new year or Tibetan Losar new year or other festival
? Have you ever asked yourself this question? What comes to mind when
you think of new year? Do you picture a time of thankfulness toward your
faiths or is it merely one of the partying time or watching movies, go
shopping, having an expensive lunch at the five stars hotel ? Reunions for
"Yum Seng" or banquet with all the meats? Do you think about the
animals that had been slaughtered just for our celebrations. What does a new year mean to you?
Chinese new year or
Tibetan Losar is a time together with family and friends to give thanks for the many
blessings enjoyed by these nations and their citizens. However, to many people,
its meaning is lost. It has become simply another day for huge meals, dinner
parties, get-together or reunions.
This picture looks as simple as an ordinary secluded suburban, this suburban called the old Airport Subang Selangor in Malaysia, Today is the first day of the Chinese new year February 19, 2015. Hot and humid and looks like another promising sunny day. Its vast beautiful serenity with plenty of green lungs especially the coconut trees.
This is Ci Hang - Chempaka welfare Associations, is a registered welfare organization
providing services to the poor, abandoned, aged, physically challenged
individuals, and those who are being put to the most unfortunate living
situations. In line with their mission to serve, the Associations had carried out a series of welfare
initiatives such as:-
- A home shelter designed for the abandoned old folks and provide their daily needs such as shelter, food, beverages, clothings, medical needs and health care are carefully attended to by maids and a full time nurse. Doctors provide health checks and care fortnightly.
Provides free treatments to
the deserving patients Physiotherapy
& Stroke Rehabilitation Centre.
Financial
Assistance to the Poor Individuals and Families are being provided to the qualified poor
individuals or families. The financial assistance are being provided in the
forms of monthly grants, provision of food and sundries.
Free Tuition Classes to provides free tuition classes
to selected poor students, enabling them to progress through their educational
process and self-development for a better future.
This is our Chinese and Losar new year old folks home visit program during the festive season with some of my Malaysian Buddhist friends. We had been carried out this program for about 6 years without failed. The program is not about how many donations we gave to the Associations ,how much groceries or necessities we donated. Most importantly is to comfort and care for their wellbeing, Spend some time to listen to them as they are very old, and lonely. These senior and aged adults too are equally deserved our loves and thoughts and not limited on materials wealth only.
Chinese
new year and Tibetan Losar new year come with many splendors things and comes
with many different ways of celebration. New Year is the Blessed season which
engages the whole world in a conspiracy of love and most importantly with the
messages of love , peace, sharing, forgiveness, passion of giving and reaching out to give our care and love and reaching
out to give your care and to give comfort and inspiration to someone who is less fortunate and miserable during this season of love.
Compassion and unconditional love are the universal messages of all religions
and faiths.
