The Birthday of Guru Rinpoche is a public holiday in Bhutan
The kingdom of Bhutan is fondly known as the “land of thunder dragons” to their citizens. Buddhism is supposed to have been brought to Bhutan by the “Padmasambhava” or the “Lotus Born”.

This is a different form of Buddhism with a tantric side to it. In Tibet and Bhutan, the Padmasambhava is referred to as Guru Rinpoche (“Precious Master”) or Lopon Rinpoche. His birthday is celebrated with great joy in Bhutan.

The Living Journal - Your Faithful Pets First & Last Moments

When you first meet your pets, and spent together during it's last moments.

As an animal lover, the loss of our pet is something we dread.  I have gone through this in 2013, with the death of my much-loved mixed breed Labrador, called "Prince".

Prince has just spent less than 2 years of his life with me, and Prince was given by my friend as a soulmate. Unfortunately, he died of pneumonia and the pained and sorrowed is too dreadful and unbearable for me, and ever since I had stopped keeping any pet with me.

Much has been written about the human-animal bond, and the benefits it can bring to owners of companion animals. It's the moment every pet owner dreads -when the time comes when they have to say a final goodbye to a faithful friend.

Cheryl shared her first image of her English Springer Spaniel Flynn with siblings when they were born.

Cheryl with her beloved pet and she was privileged to be the first to hold Him when he was born and I held him while he took his last breaths at his aged 11. There isn't a day goes by that I don't miss him dearly.

Another image of a cute and lovely puppy was held in his owner's arms, and after many years the dog has lived together with his owner. This was his last moments and the doggy said goodbye to me. I cried when I took the picture - Sad tory written by the owner.

Another sad moment, as the owner shared the photo of his beloved pet was having a fun time with his child. The owner took his pet around the park one last time before her pet rest in peace.

In a heartbreaking selection of images pet owners have shared the lifespan of their pets with their very first and very last moments with their four-legged friends. The moving pictures are accompanied by emotional messages from the pet's owners expressing their love for their dearly departed animal.

If you have a leaning towards Buddhism, it’s also very useful to create a positive association in your pet’s mind between Buddhist images/statues/mantras and a state of well-being.  Murmuring mantras to your pets as you stroke with an example of this :–           Om mani padme hum is one such mantra.  Or if you are inclined to Tara practice – Om tare tuttare ture soha.
If you meditate regularly, there’s a good chance that your pet will want to join you.  Let them.  There’s plenty of research showing that animals’ perceptive abilities are, in certain respects, far more sensitive than humans’.  If they are able to associate the practice of meditation with a positive state of being, so much the better.
From a Buddhist perspective, whether we are human or animal, we are constantly creating the causes for future effects, positive or negative.  The more we are able to help our pet create imprints for a disposition towards enlightened actions, the better.

No More Massacre And Its Banned In 2019.

Gahimai festival – An old practice.
According to legend, the first sacrifices in Bariyapur were conducted several centuries ago when Gadhimai appeared to a prisoner in a dream and asked him to establish a temple to her. When the prisoner awoke, his shackles had fallen open and he was able to leave the prison. As a promised he builds the temple and where he sacrificed animals to give thanks.

Is a sacrificial ceremony that is held every 5 years at the Gadhimai Temple of Bariyarpur, in Bara District, about 100 miles (160 km) south of the capital Kathmandu in the southern Nepal, near the Indo-Nepal border, adjacent to Bihar.
The event involves the large scale sacrificial slaughter of animals including water buffaloes, pigs, goats, chickens, and pigeons – with the goal of pleasing Gadhimai, thegoddess of power. It is estimated that 250,000 animals were sacrificed during the Gadhimai festival of 2014.
In a significant move that will save the lives of millions of animals, the practice of sacrifice has been banned at Nepal’s Gadhimai festival, the world’s biggest animal sacrifice event held every five years. The temple trust announced its decision on Tuesday and urged all devotees not to bring animals to the festival, a religious practice that had been continuing for the last 300 years.

“The Gadhimai Temple Trust hereby declares our formal decision to end animal sacrifice. With your help, we can ensure Gadhimai 2019 is free from bloodshed. Moreover, we can ensure Gadhimai 2019 is a momentous celebration of life,” the chairman of the trust, Ram Chandra Shah, said in a statement.
“For generations, pilgrims have sacrificed animals to the Goddess Gadhimai, in the hope of a better life. For every life taken, our heart is heavy. The time has come to transform an old tradition. The time has come to replace killing and violence with peaceful worship and celebration,” he added.
No more retribution, No more earthquakes. Apparently claims that the magnitude 7.9 earthquake in Nepal was nature's retribution to an alleged massacre of animals slaughter.

The Living Journal - Be A Buddhist Outside And Inside the Temple.

I am going to share with you some of the very interesting teachings by His Eminence The 12th Zurmang Gharwang Rinpoche. Rinpoche indeed was one of my best teacher, and I had received many of His empowerments and Dharma teachings dated back as early as in the Year of 2005.

Here are some of the interesting Dharma teachings by Rinpoche.
[In summaries]

Are you really a Buddhist ?
Many people who believed that they are Buddhist, but they do not live as Buddhist. If you were to ask,;Are you a Buddhist? Do you live life as a Buddhist ?
Rinpoche pointed out that there are four different type of people.

Four different type of people
[1] Buddhists, but do not live life as Buddhists.
[2] Buddhists, and live life as Buddhists.
[3] Not Buddhists, but live according to * Buddhist tenets.
[4] Non-Buddhists, Who do not believe in Buddhism

* What is Buddhist tenets ?
[1] Believe in Impermanence.
[2] Pleasure will become suffering.
[3] Believe in selflessness.
(nothing is independent or solid or permanent)
[4] Believe that nirvana is peace.

Be A Buddhist Outside And Inside the Temple.
When practitioners differentiate the secular from spiritual, and their practice will never be perfect and successful. This is related to our attitude and actions.
Example,In your daily life, You get angry, jealous, greed, envy, you get attached to many things and you just don't care and continue to do horrible nasty things! BUT when you enter the Monastery, Temple, Buddhist center, you start behaving like a Buddhist! If you are a Buddhist , you have to be a Buddhist both outside and inside the temple.
How to be a Buddhist inside/outside the temple ? When you hold a mala , you "feel" you are holy, you feel you are a Buddhist, at that moment, you don't get angry, jealous, greed, envy and no more attachment, but once you have stopped chanting and out of the temple, it's a different story, everything is back, you are angry and irritated when people say bad thing about you, your desire for something that you used to, smoking, alcohol drinks, gambling. etc..
No time to practice
When your master asks you to practice, but your answer will always be; Rinpoche, I am so busy every day and I don't have the time to practice, and I can't even practice or focus for 5 minutes, because i am having backache, leg pain, headache etc..

But then again, when you are watching movies, TV or online, you are glued to it for hours  and hours without feeling any discomfort. This shows that everything we do, is just a matter of habits.

I have learned a great lesson from His teachings, sometimes i react the same ways too, when someone has said some nasty things or raise their voice to me. I am not a perfect person, but i will keep reminding me and trying to be mindful that the effects of the five poisons are actively within my body, speech and mind.

Chokhor Duchen - July 20, 2015.

One of the four great holy days of the Tibetan calendar is today July 20. Also known as the Festival of Turning the Wheel of Dharma, Chokhor Duchen commemorates the anniversary upon which Shakyamuni Buddha first began teaching the Dharma.

On today the effects of positive or negative actions are and will be multiplied by 10,000,000 ten millions times.

For seven weeks after his enlightenment, the Buddha did not teach. After this period, Indra and Brahma offered a dharmachakra and a conch shell and requested Shakyamuni to teach. Chokhor Duchen commemorates the Buddha's first sermon and the teaching of the Four Noble Truths.

In Buddhism this event is known as the ‘turning of the wheel of dharma’. Theravada Buddhists remember this event on Dhamma Day, also known as Asalha Puja, in reference to the month in which it occurs.

Accepting, Buddha Shakyamuni turned the Wheel of Dharma for the first time at Sarnath by teaching on the Four Noble Truths.

Please Stop The Extremism - Self Immolation Campaign

Please Stop The Extremism - Self Immolation for Free Tibet campaign.

As of 11 April 2015 there have been about 138 reported self-immolation in Tibet since 27 February 2009, when Tapey, a young monk from Kirti Monastery.

He set himself on fire in the marketplace in Ngawa CityNgawa County, Sichuan China.

In 2011 a wave of self-immolation by Tibetans in Chinese-occupied Tibet, as well as in India and Nepal, occurred after the self-immolation of Phuntsog of 16 March 2011 in Ngawa County, Sichuan. Protests are ongoing.

Most of the protesters have been monks and nuns, or ex-monksSome of the protesters who set themselves on fire were teenagers.

Self-immolation protests have become less frequent in 2013 and 2014 but these and other protests are taking place over a widening area of Tibet. Some Tibetans have also set themselves alight outside Tibet and China.

Most such incidents have taken place in China's Sichuan province.Especially around the Kirti Monastery in Ngawa city, County, Sichuan in Gansu Qinghai and Tibet Autonomous region. Self-immolation protests by Tibetans also occurred in India and Kathmandu, Nepal.

Although many monks and nuns have set themselves alight, most self-immolation protesters were not from religious institutions.
They include teachers, students and herdsmen, as well as mothers and fathers. The youngest was just 15 years old.
Om Mani Pad me Hum, Om Mani Pad me Hum.
may my prayers and thoughts are with you !
Please stop self immolation, stop self scarifying. By doing this extremist self destruction will not end the crisis completely and against the teaching of Buddha.

The free Tibet campaign should be in a non violent, non extremism ways and in a true Buddhism path. Please stop self-immolation ! My thoughts and spirits will always be right with you , Please support us for Free Tibet campaign in a non violent acts !

PLEASE STOP SELF-IMMOLATION,
PLEASE STOP SELF-DESTRUCTION.
PLEASE STOP SELF-SCARIFYING.
