Happy Chinese New Year and Tibetan Losar New Year 新年快樂

This is the Wood Sheep year 2142 according to the Tibetan calendar and it is also known as Losar, Tibetan new year is the most important festival in the Tibetan calendar and to last 15 days. The Tibetan calendar consists of 12 (or 13) lunar months, and Losar begins on the first day of the Tibetan year. The Tibetan calendar is almost identical to the Chinese calendar.
The last day of the preceding year is a day to prepare for the coming New Year. The monasteries are all decked up in the finest decorations and a blessing Ceremony is performed on the first day of Losar. Homes are freshly painted, families dress up in new clothes, good food and special dishes are cooked and there is a wonderful air of expectation of what the New Year holds.
It is also regarded as the year of the sheep or the goat. Regardless of whichever name you prefer, the animal represents the eighth sign in the 12 cycles of the Chinese Zodiac. The goat is also regarded as an auspicious animal that delivers a year of promise and prosperity. Those that are born on the year of the goat are said to possess a lot of peaceful traits. Goats are kind, helpful, and trusting, but also resistant to change.
Be sure to wish your friends, family, loved ones, coworkers, and even business partners on this special Chinese and Tibetan New Year of the Sheep. I would like to take this opportunity to wish all my Chinese and Tibetan friends and readers a very prosperous, joyful, good luck and great success in the coming New Year.
我誠摯的新年祝福,順祝身體健康願新年為您帶來新年快樂,友愛和寧靜 祝來年好運,並取得更大的成就
( Please pardon me if the Chinese greeting words are inappropriately misspelled).

Mahakala Gutor Prayers Update

Today I am updating the annual Mahakala Gutor prayers and its ritual ceremony. As mentioned earlier, before the Tibetan New Year Losar, Kagyu monasteries around the world , including Malaysia will be engaged in couple of days of protector practice, focused mainly on Mahakala and his retinue.
In Tibetan language Gutor, "Gu" mean 9 "tor" mean offerings. This is the wrapping and purification of sickness, obstacles, dispelling of enemies which  will be practiced annually.
Given offerings and praise, they are requested to guard the teachings, protect the sangha, and keep the world safe from obstacles and whatever is inauspicious, such as wars, sickness, and the disturbances of the four elements. Eliminating all of these is the responsibility of Mahakala, who is the main protector for the Kagyu teachings.
Gutor is very important for reversing bad omens, particularly for people whose birth year corresponds to the coming year. Their life is in critical danger and they may face major obstacles in the foregoing year.

Therefore the reversing practices have to be done to remove those impending obstacles. There will be a lot of strong reversing mantras recited and accumulated during Gutor, as well as subjugation implements that will have to be used.
High level of of Dharma protectors are an example of Mahakala, He is the well known Dharma protectors and he is the wrathful manifestation of the compassion of Chenrizig (In Tibetan) or Avalokitesvara (In Sanskrit) Kuan Yin (In Chinese)
Bodhisattva.  Mahakala 大黒天 using his power to protect the temples, monasteries, protect the precious Vajrayana teachings and help other dharma practitioners. He is typically black color. Just as all colors are absorbed and dissolved into black, all names and forms are said to melt into those of Mahakala, symbolizing his all-embracing, comprehensive nature.
Boxes are contains of used or worn clothings which is related to your own and your family members. The second box is contains of individuals items , such as few strands of hairs, nails that had put into the red color package bags for reversing and purification.

The reversing practices to be most effective, it is of course best if one can participate directly to connect you to the reversing torma effigy that will be sent out. Rinpoche emphasized that this is especially important if your birth year is that of the Sheep.

Vajrayana features countless skilful and powerful methods which, if they are practised in the proper way, can make the process of accumulation and purification incredibly swift and direct. One such method is the practice of tsok, which is primarily a practice of offering. It is not just a practice of offering however; it is also a powerful method for purifying our Samaya.

Mahakala Gutor Prayer February 14 to 18, 2015

What is Mahakala Gutor prayer
This is the wrapping and purification of sickness, obstacles, dispelling of enemies which  will be practiced annually. Before the Tibetan New Year Losar, Kagyu monasteries will be engaged in couple of days of protector practice, focused mainly on Mahakala and his retinue. In Tibetan language Gutor, "Gu" mean 9 "tor" mean offerings.

Special items to be used for removing obstacles, one can bring an old piece of worn cloth for reversing of obstacles. For your information, Mahakala is the main deity to supplicate for the success of the Buddha’s activity, the spread of his teachings, and the benefit and protection of living beings. He is not a wordy, but a wisdom protector, a bodhisattva placed under oath by the Buddha to protect the teachings.

Bodhisattvas appear in forms that are peaceful, fierce, and sometimes a combination of the two. Whatever their appearance may be, the essence of the protectors is that of a bodhisattva. It is this wisdom deity and bodhisattva who is the focus of the practices during Gutor.

There are many Tibetan centers in the world and including Malaysia are conducting the annual Mahakala Gutor practices.

A Courtesy Update - Dakini Day (February 14, 2015)

A courtesy call to update all my dear readers and others who are visiting my Buddhist blog, Just a courtesy reminder to update this February 14, 2015 is the important Dakini practice day.

Coincidentally, I took this picture when I was in the Bodhgaya Temple.  I noticed there was a Tibetan woman and she was quietly and completely developed herself into a deep inner meditation stage at  the Maha Bodhgaya Temple.

She was completely focused on the recitation of the mantras, and at the same time she was able to perform with other spiritual rituals such as, turning with the prayer wheel and her left hand counting with the Mala bead.

This practice may looks simple, but the question is could you performed all this tasks simultaneously? Are you able to focus on your breathing, your mantra recitations to coincide with the rolling of your prayer wheel correctly and systematically without fails?

Physically and spiritually she has not been disturbed by the outside world and continuing to develop her inner tranquility minds and devotion to the Buddha's profound teaching.

There are many females Tibetan practitioners who had attained highest level of realizations and become a highly powerful tantric Yogini or a wisdom enlightened Dakini and some become an earthly Dakini (Unenlightened Dakini).

As a Buddhist , we only take refuge to the enlightened and wisdom realized beings for our spiritual developments and guidance. This picture was taken when I was in Bodhgaya and this was the busiest time and many visitors around the world will visit the holiest pilgrimage Maha Bodhigaya during the yearly Molam prayers in India.

For more information of female Dakini, please search the key word " The Dakini Principle " under my search box which will direct you with some relevant topics.

Samye Ling Monastery Scotland UK Part 11 - The Victory Stupa for World Peace

We had a short meditation and relax oneself to the tranquility environment. We spent sometimes by walking around at the garden, the Samye Ling garden comprises some two acres of land within the extensive grounds of the Monastery and is comparable to an old fashioned kitchen garden found at a traditional British country house.
The garden is completely enclosed by thick hedges and comprises fruit and vegetable plots, and flower and herb gardens. There are workshops and potting sheds, greenhouses and cold frames, a walled garden, a shop and a library.
The first authentic Stupa in Britain was consecrated in Scotland on August 3rd 2000 It had been planned to mark the New Millenium and to celebrate the 60th Birthday of Akong Tulku Rinpoche. and the Stupa and it was dedicated to healing the environment and overcoming obstacles to World Peace.
The Stupa inner shrine is open to visitors during the weekends. It can be used for private meditation and also offers space for the remains and ashes of those who wish to be laid to rest either within it or in the prayer wheel house.
I and my Scottish friends were having so much of a wonderful moments in Samye Ling Monastery and I do hope that my dear readers will be able to spend and staying some day with the Lamas and Rinpoche for a meaningful paths and to experience a magnificent Monastic life.

Samye Ling Tibetan Monastery Scotland UK Part 10 - Nagarjuna Holy Lake

Nagarjuna Bodhisattva and the Naga holy lake in Samye Ling Karma Kagyu Monastery , Scotland UK
One of the main attraction of Samye Ling Monastery will be the most stunning and majestic of the Nagarjuna Bodhisattva 龍樹菩薩 holy lake.
